GuyKnowsBall does not require an account. We use a browser cookie and server records to remember your progress. Advertising is not currently active. We measure page views and basic interactions using aggregate analytics.

The game cookie

The cookie named gkb_sid contains a randomly generated session identifier. It connects this browser to its game history without asking for your name or email. It is a pseudonymous identifier, not a guarantee of anonymity. Its maximum lifetime is one year unless you delete it earlier. On the published HTTPS site, it is marked Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax.

You can remove or block the cookie using your browser settings. Blocking it can prevent progress from being remembered. Deleting it stops this browser from accessing the old session; it does not automatically delete the associated server records.

Language preference

We store your chosen language (EN or PT-BR) in this browser’s local storage as gkb_language. It remembers your preference across pages and visits; it does not contain guesses or identify your game session. You can remove it in your browser settings. If storage is blocked, explicit language links and language parameters on game links still select a language; other new visits use English.

Progress stored on the server

We store a hashed session identifier, the puzzle and round played, submitted guesses, letter feedback, attempts used, result and last update time. These records support saved progress and keep repeated requests from spending another attempt. Do not enter personal or sensitive information in the guess field.

There is currently no automatic expiry or self-service deletion of these game records. The cookie's one-year lifetime is not a server-data retention period. Hints shown in the current tab are not saved as a hint history on the server.

Hosting and external websites

Cloudflare hosts the published site and its game database. Delivering and protecting a website involves technical request information, such as an IP address and browser information, that the hosting provider may process. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for its practices. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure visits, page views and page performance without analytics cookies.

Source links take you to other publishers. Their privacy policies apply when you visit those sites.

Aggregate interaction counts

We also keep daily totals of page views and clicks on play, instructions, hints, sharing, the calendar and language controls. These counters do not store guesses, game session identifiers, IP addresses or individual click histories. They count actions, not unique people; repeated actions and automated traffic may affect totals. No new cookie or browser identifier is used for these counters. Rapid repeat clicks are filtered for two seconds, and each page load sends at most 50 events. These are counts of control clicks, not proof that sharing or another action succeeded.

Our analytics script skips measurement when the browser signals Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Blocking analytics does not prevent you from playing. Cloudflare may still process technical request information to deliver and protect the site. The aggregate counters start when this feature is published and do not reconstruct past activity.

Google advertising: planned, not active

We have verified site ownership for Google AdSense using a static account metatag. That tag does not load Google's advertising script or set advertising cookies. No Google advertising script or ad unit is currently installed.

If Google advertising is introduced, Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies to show ads based on previous visits to this or other websites. Google's advertising cookies can enable Google and its partners to personalise ads using those visits. You can manage personalised advertising through Google My Ad Center and learn about other participating vendors' choices at YourAdChoices. See Google's advertising information.

Before advertising is enabled, this page and any required consent controls will be updated to reflect the actual setup. The links above do not substitute for consent controls on this site. Rejecting optional advertising should not stop you from playing.

Privacy questions and requests

For questions about your data or requests concerning access, correction or deletion, contact the GuyKnowsBall operator at guyknowsballgame@gmail.com. Describe your request without sending passwords, cookie values, identity documents or banking details. We may need additional information to locate the relevant records and verify a request safely. Because progress is linked to a browser session rather than a named account, an email address alone does not identify your game history.
