ABOUT THE GAME

Football has a way of connecting things.

A song, a person, a moment in history and a football reference can lead to the same name. GuyKnowsBall turns those connections into a puzzle: four clues, one complete answer, five guesses.

What you are looking for

The answer can be a player, a club, a coach or a football-related place. A familiar name might come to mind after the first clue, but it needs to explain the other three too. The challenge is finding the shared thread, rather than identifying four separate answers.

How connections are chosen

Each published puzzle is reviewed before release. We look for specific, documented connections and check the wording against sources. A clue should point to an event or relationship that can be explained, rather than relying on a vague resemblance or an unsupported association.

Solving a puzzle unlocks an explanation of each connection and links to its sources. Those links let you explore the story beyond the guess. The answer and explanations stay hidden after five misses; practice offers another chance while keeping your first result.

A few minutes, three times a week

New puzzles are scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:00 UTC. The calendar shows released puzzles, so you can return to an earlier challenge. There is no account to create. Your browser session keeps track of your game history.
